The Courtyard Institute is a organisation that aims to help the Beijing Courtyard community to become a vibrant “cultural space”; educating friends and family in the understanding of the root of their own culture and the importance of preserving and maintaining Beijing’s built heritage. Having many traditional courtyard sites dotted throughout the city of Beijing, The Courtyard Institute holds regular talks on Chinese history, traditional arts and ancient Chinese classic History as well as providing classes for young children to practice traditional arts as part of their effort to enlighten the youth in appreciating the culture they have inherited.
In these excerpts from the “Bruce in Beijing” radio interview, Matthew (from The Courtyard Institute) describes the work that they have done in several areas of their work.
